Managing Partner
Jeff has been providing individuals and families with financial guidance since 1986. He developed his financial knowledge with Prudential, PaineWebber/UBS, and Wachovia Securities before founding Phillips Wealth Management in 2003. In 2015, he merged his wealth management firm with three others to form Midtown Financial Advisors in Greensboro, NC.
In addition to his work in financial services, Jeff has been active in public service in Guilford County, North Carolina. In 2012 he was elected to the Guilford County Board of Commissioners and was selected by fellow commissioners to serve as the Chairman of the Budget Committee.
Jeff served on the Board of Commissioners for eight years and participated in the oversight of the county’s annual budget and financial planning efforts. In addition to his role on the Budget Committee, Jeff served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Commissioners in 2015 and 2019 and Chairman in 2016, 2017, and 2020.
Jeff studied computer science at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Community Leader
Jeff’s rootedness in his community is evidenced by how he spends his time outside the office. He:
- Is a Founding Board Member and President of the Board at Gate City Charter Academy
- Is a former Director at Daystar Church
- Has served on the Board of the Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum
- Was President of the Greensboro Optimist Club
- Was President and Co-Founder of Men of Vision & Excellence, a Christian non-profit
- Coached many youth basketball, soccer, and softball teams over the years
- Was as a team leader for the Salvation Army’s NightWatch program, which served homeless individuals
During his time on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, Jeff was also instrumental in leading transformative community advancement around the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, mental health, and homelessness. Tangible examples of his efforts include the opening of the Guilford County Family Justice Center in 2015 and the Guilford County Behavioral Health Crisis Center early 2021.
Jeff and his wife Lori have two adult daughters and three grandchildren: Raleigh, Adley, and Remy.
